Boeing Co (NYSE:BA) shares are trading higher Wednesday, driven by major labor agreement progress and fresh commercial order momentum.

Labor Stability and Union Recommendation

On Tuesday night, leadership from the Society of Professional Engineering Employees in Aerospace officially recommended that its 17,000 engineering and technical members vote to accept Boeing’s latest four-year contract offer. This recommendation follows an upgraded proposal presented by management on Sept. 11, which improved upon an earlier draft rejected by members during an Aug. 21 vote.

Securing union endorsement ahead of the current agreement’s expiration date on Oct. 6 eliminates a primary operational risk that Chief Executive Officer Kelly Ortberg warned on Sept. 16 would halt ongoing 777X flight certification testing and disrupt core 737 MAX assembly line throughput.

Order Acceleration and Backlog Execution

Adding to the commercial momentum on Wednesday, diplomatic officials confirmed that Biman Bangladesh agreed to purchase 11 additional Boeing jets, expanding upon a $3.7 billion fleet order originally signed on April 30. This announcement follows Korean Air finalizing a 103-aircraft order across Boeing’s widebody and narrowbody lineups on Sept. 16.

Turkish Airlines also announced that it will purchase up to 150 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, with deliveries spanning from 2033 to 2037. The purchase includes a firm order for 100 737s, with an option for up to 50 more.

Furthermore, the defense and space unit successfully launched three O3b mPOWER satellites on Sept. 13, following their factory delivery on Sept. 2. Removing labor disruption threats allows management to focus on executing its estimated $715 billion backlog, while advancing FAA certification for the 737 MAX 10 following MAX 7 regulatory clearance granted in August 2026.

BA Shares Gain Wednesday

BA Price Action: Boeing shares were up 2.27% at $202.21 at the time of publication on Wednesday, according to Benzinga Pro data.
